Your #1 Energy Saver

Geothermal has proven itself to be your #1 energy saver in the heating and cooling sector.

What we do

Haliburton Geothermal provides horizontal, vertical and lake loop geothermal heating and cooling systems.  Based in Haliburton, Ontario, we service homeowners, cottage owners and commercial properties in Haliburton County and surrounding areas.

The Process

Signing a contract and having someone in your house installing a new appliance can be looming and perhaps uncomfortable.  We want to make this process easy for you so here are 10 steps of the process when getting a new geothermal system into your house.

1. Contact a Geothermal Contractor
Since geothermal is a larger install than any other heating system, finding the proper contractor with years of experience and a great track record of happy and grateful customers in of most importance.  By not knowing who you are dealing with, you could be left without heat in the middle of the winter when you need reliable help most.
2. Site Visit
There are numerous variables in regards to installing a geothermal system and so a site visit is required to give a proper and accurate quote on the install.  We look at everything from the grades around the building to the configuration of the utility room.  Be prepared to answer a lot of questions.  The more we know about the property and house that we are heating, the better we can design the system. Sometimes a survey will be required in order to ensure the proposed geothermal loop is not installed on your neighbor’s property.
3. Get a Quote
We will provide a detailed quote with the products we will use as well as the efficiencies of the system.  It’s important that you understand what you are getting in the quote so that you can compare apples to apples when comparing our price to someone else’s.  We have multiple product lines that provide different levels of efficiencies, comfort, and cost savings and by comparing our “top of the line” model to their low-end knock-off product without knowing can will leave you missing out on the comfort and savings you were hoping for.
4. The Contract
A breakdown of payments and the dates that the installation will be provided as well as our guarantee of install and product.
5. The Install
Whether it’s a geothermal system in a new build or a retrofit, horizontal, vertical, or lake loop, we get a little dirty while placing the loop into the ground and tieing it into the house.  The ductwork, radiant loops, and other interior components will be installed at this time as well.
6. Flush
As one of the most crucial parts of the entire install process, flushing the loops and geothermal unit properly in order to get rid of all air takes the right equipment, a lot of know-how, and patience. It also takes a lot of coffee as we monitor the loop while it’s flushing to make sure it’s done completely.
7. Ignition
Even though there is no flame in the geothermal system, we still like to “fire it up” when the install is all done.  Running the diagnostics, setting up the thermostat, and balancing the heat load in the building are all done at this time.  During the colder days of winter, slight tweaking of distribution may be required since installing a heating system in August can have its limitations.
8. The Run THrough
We’ll walk you through the installed components and operation of the system so that you understand what alterations you can make in the future to increase your comfort or cost savings. Any maintenance items will be discussed then.
9. revisit
we will schedule a site visit 6 to 8 months after the installation and check the pressure on the loops. Most expanding of the pipes happen at this time and after repressurizing the loops, very little expansion occurs
10. Schedule Check-Ups
The only routine maintenance required on these geothermal systems is cleaning the air filter every so often to ensure adequate airflow for prime heat transfer and low noise.  We can provide a system check-up and diagnostic on your system every year or even every few years to help you set your mind at ease that your system is functioning as it should.
